Friends of Kramer
The following organizations, foundations, businesses, and banks have contributed to City of Kramer in the past year in a variety of ways. Some have gone out of the way to help a citizen of Kramer with a helping hand, others donated funds for city projects and needs, some offered their services in a fair and meaningful way. As 2025 comes to an end, we thank all of them.
NDCF helps to build and strengthen communities and bring together people and organizations that want to make a difference. They are tax-exempt public charities that encourage philanthropy and are dedicated to improving the quality of life in the areas they serve.
Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations work with community foundations to create permanent charitable funds that help meet the challenges of changing times. The foundation invests and administers these funds.

This summer the city council approached two of the foundation's community groups, the Westhope Community Foundation and the North Dakota Greatest Needs Foundation. The city unexpectedly received funding for both. The Westhope Community Foundation gave the City of Kramer $1,000.00 for the purchase of 27 new pairs of roller skates for the skating rink, something that hasn't happened in many years. The Greatest Needs Foundation awarded the city $2,500.00 for the above ground electrical panel. We received these funds on the day the council was paying the final installments to Burlington Electric and ND Sewage, Pumps and Lift. Their grant along with those of the FNBT of Bottineau and American Legion Post #269 in Upham paid off both bills permitting the city to not go into the red.
NDCF are the best of neighbors and friends of the City of Kramer.

Daryl Kuhnhenn Memorial Ride
Over a decade ago in Rugby, it wasn’t unusual to see Daryl Kuhnhenn at any event dedicated to raising funds or helping others. He was a commander of the American Legion and commander of the (Veterans of Foreign Wars) VFW. He served in Vietnam. Point, he helped a large number of people, and communities. In his spare time, Daryl Kuhnhenn enjoyed riding his motorcycle. On a Sunday in mid-Sept. 2011, he lost control of his bike and crashed on State Highway 14 in McHenry County, passing away a day later. Inasmuch, the community honors Daryl with an annual memorial ride to carryon his legacy of giving. As of 2023, the organization has donated $153,000 to the region and has donated to the Kramer Skating Rink for years. We count these Legacy Riders as the best of friends a community can have.

First National Bank and Trust - Bottineau
The City of Kramer was able over a period on twenty years nursed a certificate of deposit and it achieved $45,000.00 in 2025. That CD paid outstanding repairs on the city lift station and the remainder is funding the rejuvenation of lift station. But, there was not enough money to pay for the electrical work. The Council approached the bank, whose origins began in Kramer over a century ago and they donated $2,000.00 to be applied to the electrical hookup. We submitted a copy of the invoice and payment to the bank.
From the City of Kramer - Thank you First National Bank and Trust of Bottineau.
Thanks to the ND League of Cities for all their help during these past few months! This budget season has been a particularly stressful time. It is so nice to know there was someone we could contact for help when overwhelmed. Again thanks!
Bottineau Hockey
Bottineau Blue Line Club just purchased American flags for display in Kramer during Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day. We submitted the invoice and payment to the club. Photographs of the flags installed have been on the website.
